Redbridge Licensing Authority remove LPGMP from Premises

It has been reported that Redbridge Council Licensing Committee have withdrawn an LPGMP (Licensed Premises Gaming Machine Permit) from a pub in Wanstead.
Premises can receive entitlement for up to two machines at site (Category C or D) by way of a Licensed Premises notification to the authority (LPN).
Any more than two machines, requires an application to obtain an LPGMP from the authority in line with their Licensing and Gambling Policy. The pub had previously successfully applied and held such a permit.
At a hearing on the 19th November 2019 the Licensing Committee heard evidence that the premises in question had failed two test purchase operations, led by a partnership between the authorities Licensing Enforcement Team and the Police.
Police Cadets aged under 16 entered the premises in January and June 2019 and used two gambling machines unchallenged.
The committee decided it would withdraw the pub’s right by LPGMP for up to seven Category C (£1.00 Play and £100.00 maximum pay out) machines, it retains its LPN.

“Business’s with permits to operate betting machines have a Legal Obligation to Protect Children and other vulnerable people from being harmed or exploited by gambling.. at Redbridge, we put the welfare of our children at the heart of everything we do and won’t be afraid to use the full weight of the law against businesses that fail in their Legal obligations to Safeguard Young People”
